Although I often find inspiration during holidays abroad, it can also be found very close to home. I guess it’s everywhere, we just need to pay attention to the small things (literally)!

I love those sunny but cold winter days, when you can see frosted leaves being lit up by the morning sun. The beautifully frosted, dead leaves formed the basis of my inspiration for this painting. After that I let my imagination run wild and had great fun putting in all the critters (16 in total!). Of course the Hellebore, being one of the first flowers to emerge again, couldn’t miss out as a symbol of new life and hope.

2017, Oil on linen, 50×70 cm (19.7×27.5″)
